Post Parade Fun
Saturday, October 10 • 12:30pm - 2:30pm
Mendocino Art Center (outside) • 45200 Little Lake St, Mendocino
The Kelp Parade on Saturday morning will end at the Mendocino Art Center, where the fun continues with a host of family-friendly activities, food, art and education.
On the front lawn, ocean conservation organizations from up and down the coast will be sharing information and demonstrations of their kelp related work: learn about everything from sea otters to seaweed farming and products, to new kelp monitoring strategies, data sets, and college curricula. In the courtyard, enjoy browsing the offerings of ocean-related and indigenous arts and crafts vendors, while meandering through the Art Center galleries to see the exhibits on display. Kids can participate in a scavenger hunt looking for characters of the kelp forests hidden in the gardens. You may even see dancers overhead, swaying as divers might amongst the kelp fronds of the ocean forests. Winners of the 2026 best parade costumes will be announced, and tacos and native foods will be available from local food trucks. Wander over to the Kwan Tai Temple just a few blocks away for a special tour featuring ocean storytelling and history. Something for everyone!
