Join the Caspar Cove Project for a firsthand look at one of Northern California's most successful community-led kelp restoration efforts. Learn how divers, scientists, and volunteers are working together to restore underwater forests by removing purple sea urchins, which have contributed to the collapse of bull kelp along much of the North Coast.
Visitors can meet the restoration team, learn about the challenges facing kelp forests, and observe divers participating in the culling effort from shore. Stop by the Kelp Desk to explore educational exhibits, ask questions, and discover ways to get involved in ocean stewardship.
Interested in getting in the water? Ledges Dive Center will be on-site to provide information about freediving equipment and opportunities for participants to safely explore the cove and observe the restoration work firsthand.
Enjoy coffee and pastries from Caspar Bread & Wine while connecting with the community helping bring kelp back to the North Coast.
