Dock Walk and BEVRI Plan Debut + Picnic
Sunday, October 11 • 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Van Damme Beach • Little River, CA
Join local naturalists for an exploration of Van Damme Beach during one of the weekend’s lowest tides.
We’ll discover tidepool creatures, identify seaweeds, and learn how purple sea urchins have transformed California’s once-lush kelp forests, along with the restoration efforts now underway. After the walk, gather on the beach for a sunset celebration featuring fresh uni and a meal prepared by acclaimed food writer and chef Maria Finn. It’s the perfect way to end the weekend immersed in the ecology, flavors, and community of the North Coast. Wear sturdy footwear with good traction and dress for cool coastal weather. Tidepool rocks can be slippery. Anyone harvesting purple urchins must hold a valid California fishing license.
